Removal, Sunday, September 3, 10:30 a.m. Contents of the Time Capsule will be examined and displayed at St. John’s 75th Anniversary. Our Anniversary Celebration is Sunday, September 10, beginning with worship in St. John’s sanctuary at 9:30 a.m., followed by a congregational photograph (on the West Lawn), fellowship, festivities and a meal catered by Bob’s Chicken.
With regard to cornerstones, Christ is the cornerstone of the Church. St. Paul writes in his letter to the Ephesians:
“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone” (2.20-21). Subsequent to this and paling in comparison, St. John,
in 1960, placed a time capsule in the northwest corner of its current structure, the contents of which will be unveiled atSt. John’s 75th celebration.
An official photograph of the St. John American Lutheran Church Congregation will be taken immediately following worship on Sunday, September 10th, a copy of which will be included in St. John’s Time Capsule / Corner Stone when it is re-placed in its proud place after the observance. PLEASE, ALL CELEBRATE ST. JOHN’S 75TH ON SEPTEMBER 10. ST. JOHN CANNOT BE IMAGINED (OR REMEMBERED) WITHOUT YOU. Picture should be taken right around 10:30 a.m. (after worship). Your participation is deeply appreciated. Say cheese. Please.
