A meeting will be held to vote on adopting the following Resolution to our current Constitution. This resolution has been approved and is recommended by our church council.
Authorization of Congregation Meetings by Electronic Means
Resolution: Be it resolved that St. John American Lutheran Church amend their Constitution, Bylaws, and Continuing Resolutions by addition of C10.08 to the Constitution, stating:
C10.08. This congregation may hold meetings by remote communication, including electronically and by telephone conference, as long as there is an opportunity for simultaneous aural communication. To the extent permitted by state law, notice of all meetings may be provided electronically.
You must be physically present to vote. The resolution should be moved, seconded and discussion allowed. The resolution needs a simple majority of the vote to be adopted.
If passed this will allow us to have our Annual Meeting, and other meetings, in person as well as electronically when not possible to meet in person. This resolution was drafted by the ELCA.
No other matters will be discussed at this special meeting.
Further instructions as to how meeting will be handled in the parking lot will be forthcoming in announcements and worship videos. A sign-in sheet will be passed to each vehicle. If you could please bring your own pen or pencil would be greatly appreciated. Plan to social distance in the parking lot by leaving an empty space between vehicles. Please wear a face mask when outside of your vehicle.
As members of the ELCA, we have an important message to share and people are ready to hear it: We are saved by God's grace and God's grace alone.
