Project CAR Drivers Needed You Are The Key!

Volunteers are the key to independence and quality of life for seniors. Project CAR (Call A Ride) offers transportation to Sunday church services, and other church functions, and medical appointments for adult members of ten different churches. This transportation is a crucial element in their ability to remain connected to their church and community. Project CAR provides vehicles, gas, etc. Please call the Project CAR office (332-2777) and visit with Kate or Wanda for more information. Men, women, retired, working, young, young at heart … We Need You!

Meals-On-Wheels

St. John is responsible for Meals-on-Wheels drivers and helpers every Tuesday. If you are able to help out with this important community activity, please use the sign-up sheets at the Welcome Center (east entry of church). The meals are picked up at the Center for Active Generations. Thank you! Remember – you can sign up for just one Tuesday if you wish. Any and all help is needed and appreciated!

The Banquet

The Banquet meal ministry was founded in 1985 starting with just one meal per week. We now serve 13 meals per week at two locations. The Banquet is a volunteer-based ministry, which means our meals are paid for, prepared by, and served by volunteer groups who come from Sioux Falls and the surrounding area.

Food To You Mobile Food Pantry

Food To You Mobile Food Pantry is a way to get groceries and household items to those who need them on a weekly basis by distributing them in the neighborhoods after daytime work hours.

The Mobile Food Pantry is sponsored as a service in the Sioux Falls area by Charis Minisry Partners, a non-profit organization of thirteen local congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

What is the purpose of the Food To You Mobile Food Pantry?

  • To provide a supplement to existing food assistance in the Sioux Falls area in order to decrease hunger and poverty through greater availability of food and household items.
  • To assist the public in building caring relationships with neighbors served through this program.
  • To express the Christian value of serving and working in respect and partnership with all parts of the community, both those serving and those being served.

We care about you and your mental health. Check out the wellness activities offered by NAMI.

We are two congregations of the ELCA (Evangelical Church in America) located behind the walls of the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls and Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield. We also support Sunday evening worship at the Yankton Minimum Unit in Yankton.

Your support is crucial to sustaining our strong and dynamic ministries. We welcome you to worship with us. When you worship with us you fulfill Christ’s command and will be blessed by an hospitable welcome and a vibrant worship experience.
